In one sentence describe your business
Gameela Skin is a skincare salon based in Scottsdale, AZ that was started out of love for our clients to help them enhance their natural beauty.
How does your business make an impact?
At Gameela Skin, we give our clients a peaceful and calming environment where they can come in, get pampered, fuel their soul, and forget about the stress of the outside world for a little while.
What is the mission of your business?
Our mission is to help our clients look and feel their best in their own skin. Our priority has always been to enhance our clients’ natural beauty with a variety of customized skincare services and hand selected, top of the line products.
What is your big dream for your business?
Our greatest dream is to own a large commercial building that gives us space to not only provide skincare services with Gameela Skin, but to also create a space and community for other like minded small business owners.
What has been your favorite part about working in your business?
As a skincare guru, I love being able to positively impact clients not only with our beauty treatments, but to give them a safe and calm space away from their busy lives.
What are 3 words that describe who you are?
I would describe myself as passionate, hard working, and giving.
What is your superpower?
Magic hands 🙂 I think the reason I have been so successful in growing Gameela Skin is because I truly have the superpower to relax someone with whatever service I am providing them! Whether it’s a facial, dermaplaning, waxing treatment, etc., my clients leave Gameela Skin feeling refreshed and more in tune with themselves than when they arrived at our studio.
What makes you a Lady ChangeMaker?
What makes me a Lady ChangeMaker and separates me from others in my industry, is my passion to make sure my clients are always taken care of.
Providing skin care services is not just a job I work to make money, I truly care about the integrity of my work. This industry and these services are my greatest passion, and I take pride in knowing my clients will benefit from them. Offering services that I enjoy allows my client’s to feel that same love and passion as I do, through my work. I won’t just perform a service, recommend a product, or shape someone’s eyebrows how they want, if I do not think it’s what is best for them. I only want what is best for my clients, and will always recommend accordingly.
How did you come up with your business idea?
After working in the skin care industry for over 13 years, I finally decided it was time to branch out on my own with Gameela Skin. I craved the flexibility to offer new and custom services to my clients, without the lash of the corporate world telling me no. I also wanted to create the salon space I had always dreamt of for my clients that matched both my style and vibe as a skincare professional. In early 2018, I went full time with Gameela Skin and haven’t looked back since.
What has been the biggest failing lesson in your business?
Around the same time that I took Gameela Skin full time, I also started offering a new service for my clients called Microblading. Microblading is a form of permanent makeup for the eyebrows and this was not a service that was previously offered at the corporate salon where I was working before.
With microblading being new for me and my new brand – I was extremely passionate about making it a headline service for Gameela Skin. Over the last few years, it did not take off as expected, but instead a handful of my other skincare services became extremely popular. As a business owner, this was one of those things you learn along the way while “rolling with the punches”. Sometimes, things don’t turn out how you expect, but instead turn out how they should. Since I was not able to offer microblading in my corporate role, it played a huge part in pushing me to go out on my own and I will always be thankful for this. Although I still offer microblading today, I am excited that my variety of other skincare and beauty treatments have grown in popularity.
When did you know you your business was bigger than you?
About two years ago, in 2018, while attending a local Powerhouse Women’s Event in Scottsdale, AZ!
How can women best support you and your business?
There are so many ways to support Gameela Skin. You can schedule a skincare service online, shop our amazing self care products on our website, or simply show us some love on social media!
Where do you see your business in 5 years?
This goes hand in hand with our greatest dream for Gameela Skin. In the next 5 years, I hope to own my own commercial building that gives us space to provide skincare services, while also creating a space and community for other like minded small business owners. I love the idea of having a community where we can support each other’s businesses while being a positive influence on one another.
